YESLY Sparkling Protein Water Hits About 500 Sprouts With 20g of Protein and Zero Sugar

Protein drinks used to taste like a milkshake you had to choke down after the gym.

YESLY wants one that tastes like sparkling water instead.

According to a November 5 release from the Coconut Grove, Florida brand, here’s what we know.

YESLY was founded by Ken Uptain, who founded Essentia Water, and Scott Miller, Essentia’s former CEO. The launch also pairs the brand with marathoners Charles Hicks and Emma Bates.

“Even as their lives and goals evolve, they continue to find joy in the work,” Miller said of Hicks and Bates in the release. “That mindset is at the heart of YESLY.”

Our read: Sprouts keeps collecting the protein cans

This is our analysis. Sprouts has become the first stop for a lot of new protein drinks, from Waay’s Wild Apple to PRODA’s holiday soda. YESLY adds a big Essentia pedigree and a light, sparkling format that’s trying to beat the thick shake. Without a shelf price, we can’t tell yet whether it’s a daily grab or a treat.

Reality check

Twenty grams of protein in a clear can is a label claim, not a workout plan. The collagen is part of that protein count, so don’t read it as a skin product. The release is a company release, and there’s no price yet, so check your local Sprouts before you make a special trip.
