Waay’s New Wild Apple Protein Drink Is a Sprouts Exclusive. It’s $3.99 a Can.

Protein used to come in a tub. Then a bar. Then a shake.

Now it comes in a fizzy can that tastes like apple, if you shop at Sprouts.

What’s in the can

Here’s what Stack3d reported on November 3.

Waay’s own site backs up the basic formula, “10g Protein | 0g Sugar | 45 Calories,” and says its drinks have no caffeine, sucralose or sugar alcohols. Wild Apple isn’t listed on the site yet. Waay’s founder also co-founded Primal Kitchen, according to the brand’s site.

Our read: protein drinks are getting lighter

This is our analysis. A lot of protein drinks are thick and heavy. Waay is going the other way, with a light, fizzy can at 45 calories. It’s the same idea behind PRODA’s holiday protein soda at Sprouts. Sprouts keeps showing up as the place small drink brands test new flavors.

Reality check

This story comes from trade press, and the flavor isn’t on Waay’s site yet, so check your local Sprouts before you make a special trip. At 10g, it’s a lighter dose of protein than most shakes. And collagen is part of that protein, so don’t read the can as a skin or joint product.
