The rosemary bottle on the bathroom shelf

Rosemary and biotin are familiar names in hair care. They sound gentle and kind of natural.

These bottles pair them with 5% minoxidil, a drug. And a drug sitting on a bathroom shelf needs a cap a toddler can’t open.

What's recalled

CPSC announced the recall on October 29, 2026 (recall number 27-058). It covers three RootStim Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Treatment products, about 11,000 units in total:

They were sold online at Amazon.com from August 2025 through February 2026 for between $20 and $40. CPSC lists RootStim LLC, of New York, New York, as the seller, and says the products were made in China.

Why it's being recalled

Minoxidil has to come in child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. CPSC says these bottles aren’t child-resistant, “posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are ingested by young children.”

Our read: a drug is a drug, even with rosemary on the label

This is our analysis. The packaging leans on rosemary and biotin, which can make it feel like any other hair product in the cabinet. The active ingredient is minoxidil, and the law treats it seriously for a reason. This recall isn’t about whether the product works. It’s about whether a curious kid could get into it.

Reality check

No one has been hurt, according to CPSC, and you don’t have to lose your money. You do have to make the swap yourself, and until you do, that bottle belongs up high and out of sight.

The close

The box talks about rosemary.

The bottle needs a better cap. Move it out of reach tonight.
